Expo Seguridad Mexico 2007 celebrated its fifth anniversary April 24-26, 2007 at Centro Banamex in Mexico City with three days of new technology, more than 50 international experts offering 80 specialized seminars, an increased number of exhibitors and attendees and a gala dinner commemorating the milestone.

Expo Seguridad Mexico, Latin America's premier electronic security event, consistently draws important decision makers in the public and private sectors and generates tremendous leads and referrals for exhibitors.

With more than 5,000 visitors, the convention offered a range of technical solutions and innovations specifically for the security sector. The exhibition area displayed security solutions for government, and private companies as well as personal security for individuals. There were also several pavilions such as "Convergence," sponsored by Anixter, Glenview, Ill., "The Center of Efficient Energy," sponsored by Schneider Electric, France, and the Pelco Pavillion, "Pelco's Secure City."

Expo Seguridad Mexico 2007 offered a conference program led by more than 50 specialists, who conveyed their thoughts across the themes of Urban Security. Learning about the threats and problems has become a vital and necessary addition to all municipalities, businesses and emergency response agencies.

The keynote address, "Across the Change of Paradigms," was presented by Alan Bell, an expert of international terrorism. Bell examined the scope and range of threats and suggested planning options available to all levels of government, law enforcement and private security agencies.

Last year's convention drew 172 exhibitors and more than 4,100 attendees. This year, 185 exhibitors, including many from vertical markets outside the security industry, attended the Expo.

For the first time, Expo Seguridad Mexico 2007 recognized several of the exhibiting companies with awards for Best Corporative Image, Best Booth, Best Customer Service and Most Innovative Product. These were judged by an editorial council composed of experts in technology, business and security.

The nominees for Best Corporate Image were Anixter, Bosch, GE Security, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony. The nominees for Best Stand were: Anixter, Bosch, DSC, Inalarm, Panasonic, Pelco y Sermex. The nominees for Best Customer Service were: Anixter, Enlace de Vida, Schneider Electric y Skypatrol. The nominees for Most Innovative Product were: Bioscrypt for its access control based on face recognition; Everfocus' EDVR16D1 recording system of DVD for security systems; and Skypatrol's GPS and Vilsa system.

The winners respectively were GE Security, Pelco, Anixter and Skypatrol.

The convention has proved to be an important business opportunity for companies outside of Latin America. Both exhibitors and attendees agreed that the Expo is the perfect venue and has consistently delivered the best return on investment in the country.

According to Andrea Ferrando, sales and marketing director for the Expo, "The Expo offers great potential for companies seeking new markets for growth with opportunities that are still untapped."

Raul Valenziano, vice president of marketing Latin America for Anixter concurred, "Expo Seguridad Mexico has become one of the most important exhibitions for Spanish speaking countries. The level of exhibitors, solutions, presentations as the interest shown by the public sector definitely has consolidated the event."

Expo Seguridad México 2007 not only brought business to Mexico but also helped needy children by supporting Mission 500, a nonprofit initiative working with World Vision and focusing its efforts on the security industry and dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis. Expo Seguridad México 2007 contributed $5,000.
