Educational Opportunities Arise At Infosecurity NY
Jul 17, 2007 3:03 PM
Changes are in store for the upcoming Infosecurity NY event Sept. 11-12, 2007, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. For the first time, Infosecurity will offer free technical and business training sessions in a comprehensive educational program for IT professionals that will take place on the show floor.
"This new and unique format aims to attract a large number of engaged mid-level IT directors and managers working in the metropolitan New York area while maximizing their time spent out of the office," says Dean Russo, group vice president, Reed Exhibitions, producers of Infosecurity NY.
"Most of the educational content will be driven by the technology and its specific product applications and user-oriented knowledge. These sessions provide the opportunity to connect real world educational content with the products being featured on the show floor thereby encouraging efficient interaction that results in endless business opportunities."
An additional benefit to the educational training is the opportunity for IT professionals to gain credits towards their Certification Information System Security Professional (CISSP). Infosecurity NY will offer IT professionals with an efficient way to gain these free credits through the program.
Additionally, Infosecurity NY announces two new educational partnerships with providers in IT training. One is SANS, a network security training organization, and the other is Jericho Forum, an international IT security thought-leadership group dedicated to defining ways to deliver effective IT security solutions. Through these programs, security practitioners will have an opportunity to obtain credits towards their Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) at Infosecurity.
SANS education at Infosecurity NY will provide IT professionals with training, attracting IT security professionals dedicated to learning and the advancement of their careers. SANS has a network of 10,000 IT security professionals from large organizations with budget authority or influence concentrating in government, banking, manufacturing, healthcare and education.
The Jericho Forum's members include multi-national corporate user organizations, major security vendors, solutions providers and academics. The Jericho Forum will hold a one-day conference at Infosecurity NY bringing together C-level executives from top companies. Infosecurity NY will provide access to the invitation only meetings of the top IT Security leaders and provide vendors with the opportunity to gain exposure.
"At last year's Infosecurity NY event, we offered several educational/training sessions and more than 25 percent of the attendees participated," Russo explains. "This insight provided us with an opportunity to rethink the way that Infosecurity delivers educational and training opportunities. We believe that this shift will be well-received by IT professionals looking to learn about new products, upgrades and applications while providing value 'teaching' opportunities for vendors."
